John Painter Fine Art
John Painter attended McNeese State University and then followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the family business of general construction. With his creative problem solving aspect of 20 years experience in the field he began to nurture his artistic outlook on life. John decided to take his vision a step further outside the realm of his physical daily routine and follow a more abstract look at his surroundings. He enrolled at the Museum of Fine Arts, Glassell School of Art, Houston, TX, where he continues his formal studies. His principal mentors and instructors include Arthur Turner, Charlotte Ford Cosgrove, Patrick Palmer, Brian Portman and Arielle Mason.

Instead of constructing a place for his patrons to live, he now finds purpose in his goal to build his artistic career. Typically, his works are a mix of media incorporating photography, drawing and painting. It is John’s hope that the painting will pull at the viewers mind, to conjure a glimpse of the subject’s essence through his eyes.

He is currently a member of Lawndale Art & Performance Center, the Visual Arts Alliance, Houston Center for Photography and the Arts Alliance Center Clear Lake. John’s work has been exhibited in group and individual exhibitions throughout Texas. He has had the pleasure of being selected to exhibit his work in the May 2004 Glassell Student Exhibition. In August 2006 John was selected to exhibit in Lawndale Art Center the Big Show, juried by Dominic Molon of Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. June 2007 invited to solo exhibition “Interruptions” at Gallery M2, Houston, TX by gallery owners Max Boyd Harrison and Michael Kubis. May 2008 John invited to solo exhibit “Interruptions” at Fort Worth Community Arts Center “More Life” held in conjunction with playwright Tony Kushner’s opening “Angels in America” the opera.
